TV 2026

Scores are based on immediate feeling, not really strongly held.

* One Piece S2 - 6/10
Much better than has any right to be. Continue to fully lean into the source material in all the good ways, even if it’s cringe sometimes. The ending of the season is a bit weak (and I didn’t like the weird zombie fight) but the source material wasn’t that strong either.

* The Pitt S2 - 7/10
Continues to be the only real TV show around. The personal/medical drama ratio was a bit off for me (too soapy this time around) but still very good. Had me eagerly waiting week-to-week. I also appreciate how they allow characters to dive in and out of the story as necessary (though this might suck for the actors).

* Wonder Man - 6/10
Solid, though not spectacular. A few months after watching (as I write this) I couldn’t really remember much. Obviously lives mostly on the strength of the two main characters and the chemistry between the actors.

* Invincible S4 - 4/10
Pretty much in line with previous seasons. I like the original story, and this does manage sometimes to file over some rough edges and fill out backstories (though this sometimes backfires into stories that feel superfluous and just not very good). The rough animation and so-so voice-acting (aside from a few standouts) on top of its slowness makes for a very sluggish watch that I almost need a break in the middle of. I think this season like the rest of it could be elevated very simply: twice as many episodes but 30 minutes each, waste less budget on celebrity cameos, mediocre live-action actors and needle drops and spend the money and effort on the animation.

* The Boys S5 3/10
Oof. It’s a shame when a show goes downhill to make you regret watching earlier seasons. It’s night and day, both in terms of production values and the story/ambiance. A hollow shell of itself, filled only with swearing, dumb porn jokes and punch-outs. The only good moments came early in the season and the ending was milquetoast in a way that made you say “it’s not the worst it could’ve been”.

* For All Mankind S5 3/10
Pretty much the same as The Boys. Power Rangers-level production values, with four scenes the whole season in space in a show about it. Baffling choices to do another Mars rebellion after that was the plot of the previous season, yet still have the whole Martian (sorry, Marsie) population be the size of a large village. They finally cut ties with most of the older characters and some of the new ones are not terrible, but they’re given nothing to do.

Daredevil+ S2 4/10
The oft-heard “cover band of the Netflix show” is correct. A five minutes piece of the older show proves the noticeable difference .
